Materials:
12 used traffic cones, fake food, laminated printed paper
Produced during a two-month residency in Yorii and Kawagoe, Japan.
The unusual mixture of the ingredients of the food samples shows food most people wouldn‘t like to try. The dirty used traffic cones standing upside down on a Tatami floor are used as the dishes. The designs of the slippers out of laminated paper consists of graphic elements found on laminated signs during the stay in Japan.
The decision to use traffic cones, food samples, laminated paper signs and slippers comes from the fact that these are quite striking objects, due to their high frequency in the everydaylife in Japan. Each of them are at the first hand reasonable and logical objects, on the other hand, these objects become truly iconic when one is not used to them with such abundance.
With methods of setting these objects in different constellations to each other these new arrangements are challenging to deal with the relationships of these materials to ideas of cleanliness, old and new traditions, attention and taste.
